The foundation of Thermal power plant No.4 was laid in 1979. The first unit was put into operation in 1983 and commissioned the project capacity of 380 MW in 1987. As a result of expansion, the capacity was increased by 160 MW from 1988 to 1990, by each 20 MW in 2007 and 2009, by 120 MW from 2012 to 2014 and current operating capacity is 700 MW of electricity and 1373 GCal of heat generation in total. “Thermal power plant No.4” JSC is the largest power plant in Mongolian energy sector which generates over 67.8 percent of electricity for central region and 60.3 percent of heat for consumption of the Ulaanbaatar city. The plant consists of 74 buildings and facilities located 3-20 km away from the plant such as ash pond, water supply pump station, service building, administration building, laboratory and test center which are occupying 66,7 hectares. “Thermal power plant No.4” has become a state share holding company in August, 2001 and the Ministry of Fuel and Energy, the State Property Committee and the Ministry of Finance owns 41, 39 and 20 percent of total stock respectively. Our company consists of 6 operational sections, 1 mechanical section, 3 technical departments including Production, Maintenance and R&D Department, 3 non-technical departments such as Human resource & Administration, Control and Sales & Marketing Department, 4 departments including Procurement, Economic, Financial and Social department and other units such as Auto service, hospital and cafeteria.
