If you've ever tried to build a list of companies in manufacturing industry, you know how messy and time-consuming that process can be. Between outdated directories, clunky tools, and scattered data, it’s tough to get the precision you need, especially when building a go-to-market strategy, planning outreach campaigns, or researching your competitive landscape.
That’s where tools like Coresignal come in. With over 39 million company profiles sourced from the public web, our platform makes it easy to slice and dice data by industry, headcount, location, and more, all in just a few clicks.
And there’s real demand for this kind of visibility. Manufacturing alone accounted for $2.3 trillion (or more than 10%) of U.S. GDP in 2023 and employed over 15 million people. So, whether you're in sales, marketing, or strategy, being able to filter and analyze companies by industry quickly can unlock smarter, faster decisions.
In this tutorial, I’ll show you exactly how to use Coresignal’s tools to easily build manufacturers directory (or any other industry you care about).
Step 1: Register for a free account
As always, we'll begin by registering for a free account on Coresignal's self-service. This account allows you to easily check out our data.
- Download 200 company profiles and form 400 search queries for free
- No need to use the credit card during registration – pay only once you are sure it's a good match
- Start instantly with a Google Business account
Step 2: Go to the Multi-source company API
You will find our Multi-source company API playground on the side menu. Press the Open playground button to start querying.

What is API Playground?
If you haven't tried APIs before, an API, or Application Programming Interface, allows one system to talk to another. This means you can pull the company, employee, or job data you need directly into your product or workflow without downloading entire datasets.
Coresignal’s API playground allows you to run queries, filter the data by specific parameters (like industry, location, or headcount), and preview what kind of data you’ll get back. Think of it as your sandbox for exploring how the API works, risk-free.
Step 3: Query the data
Once you open the playground, you will find a list of pre-made queries you can use. Paste the following code snippet into the window on the right if you want to search for all manufacturing businesses available in our database:
{
"query": {
"match": {
"industry": "manufacturing"
}
}
}
Once you enter the query, press Submit request button on the right. It will open a list of company IDs that have manufacturing listed under their industry data point.

Step 4: Review the company profiles
Choose one of the IDs and once more press Submit request button.

This action will open the company profile, complete with its firmographic data, tech stack, headcount change data, and more.
In total, this particular API covers more than 500 different data points combined from multiple sources and includes data about 39 million global companies.

Keep in mind that you can query this data using more than one criteria – it all depends on the query you write.
Step 5: Set up the data API
If you are not sure how to use APIs in general, don't worry. We have plenty of resources you could check to learn more about it, all of which can be found in our self-service platform.
Once your data API is up and running, the real power kicks in. You can start pulling fresh, structured data directly into your internal systems, dashboards, or tools on demand.
Here’s what setting up data APIs can unlock for you:
- Pull detailed data on any company that matches your filters, including industry, size, location, funding, and more.
- Automate filtering data according to specific criteria, such as building a product manufacturers list
- Use Coresignal data to enrich platforms like CRMs, analytics tools, HR tech, or investment dashboards with up-to-date company or employee information.
- Set up recurring queries that populate lead lists with the most relevant industrial companies.
- Build alerts or trackers that notify your team when companies grow, start hiring, or show expansion signals.
- Use enriched data fields (like tech stack or recent job postings) to tailor your marketing or sales messaging.
In short: if you’ve got the API in place, you’ve got the ability to build smarter, more responsive workflows fueled by live, ethically collected public web data.
Choose one of the IDs and once more press Submit request button.
